Assessment and Treatment of Mental Health Difficulties in Children and Young People

We provide specialist assessment and intervention for young people and their families with a wide range of emotional/ mental health difficulties. Assessment appointments most commonly involve a Psychiatrist who is joined by a colleague. We meet with the young person most commonly with their family. Through discussion we develop an understanding of the difficulties and develop a management plan. We may recommend involvement of therapeutic skills offered by other associates. Management plans are regularly reviewed to ensure the best possible progress.

Assessment of Young People for Developmental Disorders (possible Autistic Spectrum Disorder/ ADHD)

We provide multi-disciplinary specialist assessment of potential autistic difficulties including assessment by a Speech and Language Therapist, Educational Psychologist and Child Psychiatrist with specialist experience and expertise in the field. The specialists, following their assessment, meet together with families to discuss their findings and the way forward for the young person. Assessment for ADHD is most commonly carried out by a Child Psychiatrist, linking with school, the young person and their family.
